How To Fill Up Your Pool With Well Water
Before filling the pool up using well water, you’ll want to do some basic tests to determine whether or not your filter can clean the water adequately. Well water, for instance, is much rawer than your local municipality center’s water.
There are also more ions and metals in well water, which ultimately makes it tougher for pumps and filters to clean the water. Once the testing has been completed and the well water is suitable, it’s time to fill up your pool.
Make sure to have the following materials on hand for this project:
- Garden hose.
- Biocide.
- Five-gallon bucket.
Follow the DIY steps below to finish this task properly.
Step 1. Test The Well Water
- Begin by filling up a bucket with well water and biocide.
- You can always purchase biocide from a local store.
- Be sure to follow the specific directions outlined on the package.
- Wait about 5-10 minutes, at this time.
- There could be a high level of metal ions in the water if it becomes either green or brown.
- Use a sand filter to remove the ions, if applicable.
Step 2. Connect A Hose To Your Well Water Pump
- The next step is to simply connect the hose to the tap closest to your well pump.
- You could also connect it to a conveniently located faucet in your home.
Step 3. Place The Hose Inside The Pool
- Now, put the open end of the hose inside the pool.
- Ensure the hose remains inside the pool as you turn the water on and let it run.
Step 4. Fill Up The Pool
- Watch and wait for your pool to completely fill up with well water.
- Depending on the size of the pool, the filling process can take different amounts of time.
